Our promise

Our pearls are pure nacre. Nacre is the calcium carbonate-based crystalline substance secreted by mollusks to form a cultured pearl. If you cut one of our pearls in half, the pearl would look exactly the same from outside to inside. Other cultured pearls such as Akoya, South Sea, and Tahitian contain a mollusk shell nucleus that may compose 40 to 90% of the pearl.

Each individual piece is designed by us and hand crafted by artisans. Our designers are inspired by European and Asian art as well as modern designs to create our Vintage, Style & Classic lines. We source our pearls direct from the pearl farms, which allows us to eliminate the costs associated with brokers and pass the savings to you. Our pearl farms are some of the oldest and largest in China and span over 10,000 square miles. Therefore, we also have the ability to use pearls that are more unique in color and shape than what is commonly available. Most jewelry companies are limited to what their brokers carry. We are not.

Our collections

We offer three collections to cover the spectrum of pearl jewelry. Our Classic collection features our exquisite cultured pearls that will last forever with the right care. Lustrous white, grey, pink, lavender, and peach cultured pearls are crafted with 14k gold and may include diamonds or precious stones. These Classic pearls offer timeless looks. The Dahlia Style collection includes cultured pearls designed to reflect contemporary tastes with a wide range of colors. Pieces may include sterling silver and crystal accents. Our Dahlia Vintage collection is natural seed pearl jewelry handcrafted to last for generations and carried exclusively by us. The Vintage line is marked by intricate craftsmanship with each natural pearl either drilled and mounted or set into place with multiple prongs. Our sterling silver pieces include semi-precious stones such as black agate, garnet, rubies, and sapphires.

Our story

In 1974, our pearl farm began with a single boat and few pearls in a small river in Asia. For the last thirty years, our pearls have been sold to manufacturers and wholesalers in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. However, in the last ten years, our pearl cultivation and processing techniques have advanced rapidly, enabling us to produce high quality pearls with gorgeous luster, unique colors, and larger sizes at lower prices. Typically, we sell our pearls to brokers in Hong Kong, who then export them to wholesalers all over the world. In 2002, Dahlia developed an exclusive partnership with our pearl farms to work directly with us to bring unique designs at reasonable prices to the market. Buying from Dahlia means dealing directly with our pearl farms since there are no brokers, distributors, or manufacturers between you and our pearls. Our customers find that Dahlia prices are at least 30% lower than retail prices. In 2003, Dahlia launched dahliajewels.com, a fully functional website allowing customers to browse through our fine jewelry and place orders online.

Today, our pearl farms span over 10,000 square miles and are some of the largest farms in Asia. We grow cultivate our pearls for a longer time than most other pearl farms, which produces a more durable and lustrous pearl. Our pearls grow for three to six years before they are ready for harvest. Generally, other pearl farms pearls grow pearls for only 18 months to three years. Each year, we harvest millions of pearls, but only a very small percentage passes our quality standards to qualify as fine cultured pearls.
